How Would You Challenge Yourself?......341 days to go!

Since I've started my No Clothes/Shoes For a Year Challenge, I've had a number of people tell me that they were inspired to shop less, or to repair an item of clothing long forgotten, and I've even had some people start a challenge of their own!

My dear Brother-In-Law, started his own challenge to not eat fast food for a year!  And, my Husband was so inspired by his brother and his fast food challenge that he decided to not eat fast food for a year AND to go on a hike up the hill by our house every day for a year! They made their own set of rules, and, as far as I know, they've been sticking to them. They started around the same time that I did. I am very proud of them for trying to better their lives by changing habits they were not happy with! Plus...it's really nice to have company in the form of family while I make these changes! Here's our big dog, who is SO HAPPY about getting to go on a hike EVERY day with my Husband!

Now, I am not telling you this to tell you what an inspirational saint I am (although...I mean...you could draw your own conclusions...JUST KIDDING!!!! Haha:)). I am telling you to lead into this question: If you were going to challenge yourself to change something for a year, what would it be? I know clothes shopping was the major thing I wanted to change, but I have already been thinking what I will do next year after I finish this challenge! I can't wait to hear your comments, thanks for reading:)

  1. well I did the no new clothes thing last year and wrote about it often on my blog, as you know of course. Now I'm reading the Bible for a year. There you go. You can do that! ;)

  2. Yes, I have followed your No Clothes journey the whole time! Wait, I made it sound like you spent a year as a nudist or something:) lol. And I commend you for your Bible challenge! Keep me posted on it, and thanks for sharing:) (and everyone, check out Katie's blog! Lots of tips for keeping things simple)

  3. between you and your mom, I think I will be laughing at brief comments forever and ever! I think I'd be okay with the No Clothes thing. But seriously, A... we need to find a way warmer place than up here.

  4. What an amazing idea. I should seriously try your challenge. But I don't think I could do it. Really. But You know what I should try? Not buying fabric for a year. I buy SO MUCH FABRIC. it is ridiculous. My basement looks like a mini JoAnns. If I would sew as much as I buy fabric, I would 1- be able to have tons of new clothes. and 2- have tons of stuff to sell on my etsy store. But my challenge is to read my scriptures every day. I find this makes a huge difference in my life and i really need to do it. I'm really inspired by your blog and your husband's challenge. I should do that.

  5. Oh, I used to have the same issue with fabric! It is just TOO EASY to accumulate! And there are so much possibilities. When I got too busy to sew I quit buying it, haha:). A fabric no-buy is a great idea! As is your other idea, and very similar to Katie's idea, above! I am gonna go check out your esty store now, thanks for stopping by and sharing:)

  6. Fabric addicts?! Just like me :) That was actually the first thing I thought of giving up when you mentioned doing other challenges. Actually, I thought of forbidding myself from purchasing anything Joanns before realizing I already tried and failed that. xD Crafts are just such a big part of me that I can't see things and not think "ooo, I want to try that myself." I am considering doing this for exercise. I tried to keep up a 10k steps a day schedule before but slowed down and stopped once the end of summer came around and volleyball season started. It would be the perfect project for the next year though (once the season is over) because i know I don't get much exercise otherwise. I do wonder, is a blog enough to guilt me into keeping up? if it does motivate me though that would be wonderful :)
